Introduction to Pinhole Photography - 28th June

£80.00

10am - 3pm (45 minute lunch)

Maximum of 4 participants

Discover the 2,000-year-old history and theory of the camera obscura in this hands-on introduction to pinhole photography.

You will build your own pinhole camera from recycled materials, creating the pinhole, light-proofing the body, and constructing a simple shutter.

Working in the darkroom, you’ll load photographic paper into your camera before heading out on a photowalk around AWOL Studios, experimenting with long exposures.

Back in the darkroom, you’ll develop your images using traditional chemical processes (developer, stop bath, and fixer) under safelight conditions. You’ll then review your negatives and explore ways to invert them into positive images using apps for immediate viewing.

You’ll repeat the process and leave with your handmade pinhole camera and a series of unique photographs.

Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided—please bring your own lunch.

No prior experience is necessary. All materials are included. Please wear old clothes.
